Fruit (The Fruit of the Spirit in You)

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Genesis 1:27

Throughout our lives, we often search to uncover what path God would have us to follow. The success of Pastor Rick Warren’s book The Purpose Driven Life serves as an example of how much we desire to know what God has purposed and intended for our lives. As with any journey, though, it is important to recognize where we first began in order to understand how to arrive at our final destination.

We began as creations of God, made in His own image. However, in our journeys, we often reveal traits of apples that have fallen far from the tree (of life). Because we were created in the image of God, our lives should reflect the character of God. We should aim to have others observe our actions and know that we are children of God.

Instead of giving our attention to the physical image of God, let us focus on the character of who He is. The image of God is not simply his physical appearance, rather it is what we know of His power, grace, mercy, eternal salvation, etc. Let us work to have others see this image of God in the fruit of our spirits.
