Faithfulness Day 77
That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your
heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans
10:9
Children often repeat the familiar refrain, “sticks and
stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” As they grow older,
they eventually learn how false this statement is. They learn that words do
indeed have the power to love, injure, destroy, and also to create. The power
of words can also be used in revealing the fruit of the Holy Spirit living in
us. For when we use our words to reveal our faithfulness, we have access to the
power of saving grace.
In 1919, A.B. Kendall described how “it takes only a few
brief words to enter the married life; but . . . We enter the Christian life by
faith in Christ and by confessing Him as Lord and Master of our lives.” Our faithfulness and the sincerity of our confessions are typically evidenced
by a life of commitment. However, it all begins with a simple admission.
